The project is the first batch of wind-photovoltaic projects focusing on desert and Gobi areas adopted by the National Energy Administration and National Development and Reform Commission during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and is also the first new energy large-scale wind-photovoltaic project in the Yangtze River Delta region. The project is planned to occupy more than 8.67km2 of idle collapse area with water surface, and will become the world's largest single-scale floating photovoltaic power plant project after completion with a comprehensive use of the largest idle water surface caused by coal mining sinkhole. Among them, the Ancient City Project in the first batch occupies about 3.07km2 of water surface in the collapse area.
